Corbett

Land of the trumpet, roar & song

A habitat of hills, riverine stretches, marshes and grasslands set around a lake at the foothills of the Himalayas, Corbett National Park is the oldest reserve, one of the first protected areas to fall under the Project Tiger. Named after Jim Corbett, a hunter-turned-conservationist, who has immortalized the wildlife in his days, especially the lore of man-eating tigers through several novels. The park is famous as the ‘land of the trumpet, roar and song’ – as also for its population of Asiatic elephants, leopards, sambar, wild boars, a variety of birds and the oft-sought, Royal Bengal Tiger.
