Dehradun
A hillstation with colonial vestiges of boarding schools & bakeries
Drained by two mighty Indian rivers, the Ganges and the Yamuna, Dehradun has long been known for its wealth of resources. Dehradun bears evidence of a history documented through the epic poems, Ramayana and Mahabharata, then in Mughal records, and in the British colonial era, yet most tourists flock there for the panoramic valleys and as it offers a gateway to other tourist destinations and pilgrimage sites further north. The city is crowded with educational institutions, quaint bakeries, publishing houses, defense establishments lending it a distinct charm and appeal.
