Alwar
An offbeat destination of forts & forests in Rajasthan
Once a princely state ruled by the Kachwaha dynasty, Alwar can be dated back to 1000 AD. Alwar, perhaps one of Rajasthan’s oldest princely states was the first to ally itself with the British colony – making for an interesting history of cooperation and colonial interferences. A lesser-known destination, Alwar boasts of a remarkable fort that once hosted Babur, the Mughal emperor, a tiger national park, Sariska, the haunted Bhangarh fort and an impressive museum with relics from the region’s past.
