Andretta Village
Enrol for an art holiday of pottery, yoga & more
For those who’d prefer cooler climes, the Mirage in the Andretta village of Himachal Pradesh, would spell a perfect, artsy holiday. Set against a backdrop of dense forests, bamboo thickets and the spectacular Dhauladhar range of the lower Himalayas, artistic inspiration at Andretta would not be hard to come by. A colonial-style cottage at Andretta was built in 1948 by Norah Richards, an Irish writer, dramatist and a follower of Tolstoy, who settled in these parts after the death of her husband. Later, her cottage was bequeathed to the Patiala University, where she taught drama, to welcome artists from different walks of life. Beyond the pottery workshops that we’d featured in a previous newsletter, Andretta‘s location makes it ideal for an art holiday, and artists can partake in a holistic regime by enrolling for some yoga workshops, if they’re underway during their travels.
