Blaze on India's first-ever cycling highway
With the rise of cycling as a sport across India, the recently unveiled a cycling highway that stretches from Agra to Lucknow. If that isn’t enough to get your adrenaline pumping, en route there are myriad sights and stopovers; Taj Mahal – India’s iconic monument to love listed among the Wonders of the Modern World, Raja Bhoj ki Haveli – the mansion of King Bhoj, a 11th Century ruler of Central India, Holipura village – Agra’s poster-child for village tourism, Bateshwarnath Temple – an important pilgrimage site for Hindus and Jains, among others. The highway also passes through Etawah, a city with some remains of India’s Great Hedge – a shrub-barrier erected for the collection of salt taxes. End your cycling trail at the Chambal Safari Lodge – an ancestral property turned into a wildlife safari lodge, with wetland premises that hosts avian populations all year round, with myriad flocks of migrant birds arriving during the winter months.
