Trace the legacy of the calico cloth
Gujarat’s calico – plain woven textile made of unbleached, not fully processed cotton, were first seen in Egypt in the 15th Century, and the word ‘calico’ in the 17th Century was synonymous across Europe with muslin cloth. Visit the Calico Museum in Ahmedabad, with a collection of rare textiles is second from ancient brocades to Kashmiri shawls and religious cloth paintings, and is a veritable treasure trove of inspiration for textile designers. The Museum also houses a fabulous collection of antique motor cars – for the vintage automobile lovers.
