A fort that whispers tales of well-remembered heroes

Perched on a hill overlooking the farmed valley below, Chittorgarh Fort’s epic battles created well-remembered heroes; Gora, Badal, Rana Kumbha, Maharana Pratap to name a few. Each hero’s legacy is an interesting story of valour, best heard on the fort ramparts, narrated by our local guides. The 7th Century Maurya dynasty fort, also bears legends from the days of the Mahabharata – and it is said that Bhima, one of the five Pandavas came here to learn the secrets of immortality – but his frustration, led to him stamping the ground – where today, a water reservoir is present.
