Down Dibru Saikhowa’s waterways
Assam's wondrous national park set upon waterways
Set off along the many waterways to experience Dibru Saikhowa’s rich biodiversity. The park was set up to offer refuge to the white-winged wood duck, as this is its last natural habitat. It also hosts populations of feral horse, hoolock gibbon, capped langur, slow loris, Asiatic water buffalo, royal Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, Gangetic river dolphin, as also numerous other mammals. The rich birdlife includes spot billed pelican, white bellied heron, Pallas’ fishing eagle, pale capped pigeon, swamp francolin with a migratory influx of greylag goose, Brahmini duck, bar-headed goose, among others. The mammal and bird life indicates a rich herpetofauna and insect population as well.
