Interact with the Tharu tribe
Learn about wildlife tracking and forest lore with indigenous people
The ethnic, indigenous group of people that have long inhabited this Terai stretch are known as the Tharu. The Tharu tribe is mainly found in Nepal, with a small population inhabiting the Dudhwa national park fringes. The Tharu have inhabited the forests of the Terai long before they were designated national parks, and their wildlife tracking and forest lore are legendary. Interact with the Tharu tribe on a nature trail through the buffer zones or visit their village for an intimate insight into their daily routines.
