Palakkad
A starting point for adventure & wildlife trails
In geek-speak Palakkad is a study in species diversification, with a huge chunk of the mountainous ridge of the Western Ghats missing in its journey from North to South along the western coast of India. The biodiversity that has evolved to the north varies significantly from that in the south. For others, Palakkad’s sprawling greenery and ancient temples nestled between a mountain range of both sides offers great possibilities for trekking, and as a gateway into the state of Kerala. This location of Palakkad may also have contributed to its distinct cultural and religious identity evident during the numerous festivals that occur here throughout the year.
