Vadodara
A gateway to Gujarat's lesser-known reaches
Vadodara, or Baroda located on the fertile plains of the Mahi and Narmada rivers, is an important educational and industrial hub in the western state of Gujarat. Yet the city is most spectacular during Diwali, the festival of lights and Navratri, the nine-day celebration of the battle of good over evil, in the months of October and November. The whole city wears festive, colourful costumes and traditional dances like garba and dandiya set to lively tunes keep you swirling and twirling all through the night. Vadodara is also known for its arts and culture, and as a gateway into the lesser-known parts of Gujarat.
